WHO WE ARE

MISSION

The Beaver County Regional Council of Governments (BCRCOG or COG) shall enable and encourage local government officials to resolve problems, determine policies, improve services, reduce costs and formulate plans that are common and regional, through cooperation among governments and other entities.

To help make local governments and its officials more effective for the public they serve.

Local government is most effective when it operates with integrity, efficiency, transparency, sustainability, flexibility and excellence.

To achieve its purpose, the organization will serve as a/an:

 

  •  INFORMATIONAL FORUM

    • To identify, discuss, study and bring into focus regional problems and needs.

    • To collect and exchange information of regional concern and interest, and to improve the professionalism of municipal administration and operation.

  • COORDINATOR REGIONAL PROCESS

    • Provide continuing organizational machinery to ensure effective communication and coordination among municipalities and agencies.

  • POLICY AND PRIORITY VENUE

    • Foster, develop and review policies, plans and priorities for regional growth, development, preservation of historical assets, recreational activities and conservation.

  • CENTER FOR AGREEMENTS AND PROPOSALS

    • Facilitate agreements and cooperative action proposals among municipalities for specific projects or other inter-related developmental needs and for adoption of common policies and plans with respect to common regional needs.

  •  REGIONAL SPOKESMAN

    • Maintain liaison with member, governmental unites and groups or organizations and to serve as regional spokesman for local governments.

  • SOURCE OF STAFF ASSISTANCE

    • Furnish general and technical aid to member municipalities, as they direct or request, to promote and accomplish Council of Government approved agreements, policies and plans.

  • REGIONAL REVIEW VENUE

    • Review and coordinate Federal, State and Local programs of regional importance and foster communication with Federal, State and County officials and legislators.
